How to Recognize The Authenticity of Mica Powder?

You can start from the following aspects to recognize real or fake Mica Powder: 

1. Observe the whiteness 
The whiteness of real mica powder is usually not high, usually around 75. If the whiteness of mica powder is very high (e.g. around 90), it may be mixed with other fillers such as talcum powder and calcium carbonate.

2. Check the suspension 
Real mica powder has good suspension. You can take a small amount of mica powder into a beaker, add 100ml pure water and stir with a glass rod. If the mica powder can be well suspended in the water, it means its quality is good; if the suspension is poor, it may be fake.

3. Pearlescent effect 
Real mica powder (especially sericite mica powder) has a certain pearlescent effect, which can be observed by applying a small amount on the wrist. If the pearlescent effect is obvious, it may be real; if the pearlescent effect is poor or completely absent, it may be fake.
